Millions of cubic meters of sludge types are accumulating, unspecified scattered around Ho Chi Minh City, but do not have a company, unit handling. 

Statistics of the HCM City Department of Natural Resources and Environment shows that every day the city has about 3,000 - 4.000m3 sludge (equivalent to 5,000 to 6,000 tons / day) discharged into the environment. Sludge components varied and scattered in many places that the collection, transportation, treatment and reuse difficult. Most sewage sludge dumped in landfills, or other unspecified locations.
 
For example, the total amount of sludge from the previous 9.800km drainage dumped into landfills Dong Thanh (District 12), but in 2003, after the landfill is closed, the amount of sludge in the air spills identified.
 
Similarly, sludge from industrial drainage, dredging canals, from 65,000 manholes ... most of them are unknown disposal, solid waste or spillage with activities, in order to reduce the cost of treatment management. Not to mention, this is not intended for any city funds to handle the sludge arising from public services (sewage sludge from drainage and sludge canal dredging operations).
 
Until now, the city still does not have a company, units specializing in mud treatment (except hazardous sludge - PV). Separate sludge from waste water treatment plant / urban focus is processed and recycled into compost (by factory Binh Hung Hoa and Binh Hung implement). However, the processing of organic technology of Japan applied at the factory in Binh Hung Hoa (mud mixed with straw and compost by aerobic mixing process) is not complete, causing heavy stench environment around.

Sludge is treated by aerobic incubation method (mud included in the area containing fermented and then transferred to storage for 45 days taken to landfill).
